One model for any multiphysics problem — geometry, motion, loads, and analysis state, format-agnostic.
Cae
Dependency Graph
Extropian CAE is the ecosystem's data foundation: a modular, dependency-light C++ library organized around CAEModel, a unified, format-agnostic in-memory IR. One model per part or machine carries everything an analysis needs: parts and assemblies with labelled CAE patches, a deterministic material database, multiphysics regions/domains/interfaces, physics-tagged boundary conditions and body loads, symmetry/cyclic/rotating frames, a motion graph of joints and couplings, and the analysis state itself — volume discretization, initial and ambient conditions, time domain, and physics couplings.
Every file format is an adapter over the model. Deterministic exporters cover OBJ, STL, Gmsh .msh, VTK/VTU, faceted STEP, and MJCF/URDF for mechanisms; importers rebuild CAEModel from OBJ, STL, Gmsh, FBX, and analytic STEP in a WASM-clean, dependency-free core. An opt-in tier (exd-cae-io) adds analytic STEP/IGES/BREP via OpenCASCADE and the wider mesh zoo (FBX/glTF/3DS/COLLADA/…) plus glTF 2.0 export via Assimp, with dependencies fetched automatically — no OS configuration required.
Parametric machine recipes (turbine, compressor, single-cylinder steam engine) return patched assemblies with mechanisms; full demo analysis scenes — from a ~2 m turbofan down to a µm-scale MEMS biosensor — populate every field and pass validate_analysis() with zero errors. Mass properties come from Mirtich tetrahedron decomposition.

Designed for solver intake: capability negotiation, content hashes, and deterministic validation
Source Available (PolyForm Shield)Binary Distribution (Proprietary)Internal Use (Proprietary)
Licensing is negotiated around the software, deployment model, scope, and ownership requirements of each project — whether Extropian CAE is used as-is, customized for your workflows, or embedded in a larger system you are building. I prefer perpetual licenses per major version: one fee licenses the version you chose for as long as you use it, with maintenance updates included within that major version.
Source Available (PolyForm Shield): view and build from the source under terms that prevent offering it as a competing product or service — no license fees or royalties.
Binary Distribution (Proprietary): one-time license to use and distribute the software in binary form, including inside products you sell.
Internal Use (Proprietary): one-time license for ongoing internal use of the software as delivered — no distribution, no recurring fees.
